I'm building my first AR so I'm brand new to the platform. I finally believe I have everything I need, but when laying the parts out, I think I may have run into a problem.

I have a full length Ace Skeleton stock and my Lower Parts Kit is by LWRC. The LPK came with a buffer tube and an H2 buffer. However, when I lay the buffer tube next to the Ace, it appears that the tube is a good 3/4" (1.5 cm) shorter than the gap in the stock. Also, the tube isn't cylindrical, it has (what I think are) the detents for a Mil Spec stock, so the foam cover obviously won't fit over the tube.

I'm assuming I need a new buffer tube. Or maybe it just takes a receiver extension tube, I'm not sure? Can anyone tell me which?

Also, while I'm at it... is the H2 buffer the right one? It's being mated to a BCM mid-length light-weight 14.5" upper.

The ace comes with its own tube. All you need to supply is the appropriate spring and buffer. Check with ace to see if you need a rifle spring and buffer or if the carbine spring and buffer will work with the model of stock you have.

I don't believe that the Ace comes with a tube. For one thing, mine didn't. Also Both Brownells and Midway say right on the product page that no buffer tube is included.

oops. the short ace stocks do come with their own receiver extension. the full length, which you have(missed it), don't. hoofan got it right on the first try. you will need to supply a new m16 spring and buffer and a rifle length ret.

Yup -- You have a rifle length stock and a carbine length tube and buffer.

Congrats -- You just found a good reason to build your second AR 15?

;)
