Hi,

I have a Marlin 925 with a walnut-stained hardwood stock. There seems to be some hardened glue with some grime stuck to it. i tried scraping it off but no luck. can somebody recommend a cleaning product that would get it off without damaging the finish? would rubbing alcohol work?

Try denatured alcohol NOT rubbing alcohol.
Better yet try BBQ lighter fluid first. That's even gentler. WD40 is also known to remove glue type substances too.

I also have a question about the Mar-Shield finish that is on my Marlin. What exactly is it and will using alcohol remove it?

I'm not faniliar with that. Maybe someone that is will be along shortly.
