Hi All,

I want to have the option of putting a sling on my Maverick. It came with the two studs, and it doesn't seem like a difficult task to drill the hole on the buttstock, but I do have a couple of questions...

Is it necessary to put glue/epoxy in the hole?
Can I just screw in the stud without epoxy?

I don't have anything around the house but some wood glue, and I was hoping to do the job without having to go out and buy anything.

Thanks for the quick response, and I guess I'll go and find some plastic glue.

Done. I didn't use any glue, but it seems very tight without it.

I did mine about thirty years ago and I'm pretty sure I didn't use any glue. It hasn't worked out yet.

I used a hose clamp on the magazine tube to hold the front of the sling on for most of that time. Sort of Bubba'd but it worked. The cheap old sling got sort of ratty after twenty-five years or so, so I replaced it with a nylon one. This time I used a couple of plastic wire ties on the front. Seem to work just about as well.

That's good to hear CajunBass. 25-30 years, sounds like its stood the test of time:) I got a sling on the way from Amazon.

I put them on my 870 and Win.94 30/30,no problem with backing out .The sling keeps them from backing out unless you drill the pilot hole too large.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate the feedback. And for the new Maverick owners who may pose this question in the future, I agree, no glue was necessary.
