I'm thinking about shopping for one of these at the 4000 table gun show later this month - you guys know where.

If I could find exactly what I'm thinking, it would be a model 64 round butt with 2" barrel.

And an extra hammer from one of the parts guys that I could have bobbed off, (keep the original), and a set of Eagle Secret Service grips, and one of those crossbreed IWB holsters.

So my question is, is it looks like most of these guns were made with 4" barrels and usually square grips. Am I likely to find what I'm looking for or do I need to go back and think it thru a bit more and maybe look for a nice model 65?

2" barrel 64s are not very common. I bought one in 1974 and wish i hadn't traded it off in 1980. they can be found but usually command a premium price. keep looking if that's what you really want.

Look for one of the NYPD1 2" Model 64's. They are already bobbed double action only. I see them pop up now and then. You should see a bunch of 2" Model 10's as they are more common. Make sure you look at the revolver checkout sticky at the top of this section. Great information that will keep you from buying a lemon. Good luck, Bill

BTW, nothing wrong with a Model 13 or 65 just a higher price but I have never seen either in a 2". The 3" versions command a premium these days. The Eagle Secret Service grips at the cats ass as far as CC grips on a round butt K frame IMHO. Pricey but worth the money.

Edit: As an afterthought don't pass by a 2 1/2" Model 19 or 66 either. They are round butt and you would be hard pressed to notice the difference between them or a Model 10/62 2" for concealed carry.

You may want to consider the 3" 64 or 65 as well. My wife took my 2 1/2" 66 as her house gun so I had to find another short barrel revolver that I liked. Several years later I found a used 3" 65. I never could find the 2" or 3" 64, but the 65 makes up for it.

I have a M64 NY1 that is exactly what you are looking for. 2" RB bobbed hammer DAO. So yes they are around. It currently does nightstand duty for my mother.

Either gun,M10 or M64 in any barrel length will do good for your sd. 2,3,or 4 inch and in the M10 I had my 3 parkerized because they had mostly bluing off them so I had them redone at the local plating shop for $35.00 per gun.
