Question about slugging a barrel.

I understand how to slug a barrel by forcing a lead ball through a barrel. My question is, what feature on the slugged lead ball do I measure for the diameter? Do I measure the diameter of the lands or grooves to obtain the measurement that I would use to determine what diameter lead bullets to shoot in a particular gun?

You need to measure the groove dia of the barrel, which is now the lands on the slug.

Just mesure what sticks up and go from there.

As rcmodel said, measure the largest diameter of the slug and that will give you the information you need.
