If a barrel has an even number of lands and grooves, it is easy to measure the diameter because the high points are opposite one another on opposite ends of the diameter. If an odd number of lands and grooves, it is trickier. And I don't actually know the trick. But I'll bet rcmodel does and this is probably why he wanted to know the model of the gun.Rcmodel:
Affirmative, I do own and shoot a STAR 9mm, a 30M to be precise. Can I ask why you wondered this?. The 92FS is issued and although I do shoot it on my own when I feel like it, I can't shoot it in competition (department policy) and I have to provide my own ammo when I train with it on my own.
I had not thought of the implications on slugging the barrel from the chamber as described in post #4. Great tip.
Thanks everyone for your inputs.
