Hi! This weekend I am going to see a concert at the Tacoma Dome here in Washington(Toby Keith and Terri Clark).

I'm just wondering what the rules are regarding legal carry of concealed firearms is at the Tacoma Dome. I mean, per Washington law, their should be no reason I couldn't carry there, but last time I went to the Key Arena in Seattle, there were no firearms signs all over the place.

I mean, if it's just signs and that's it, it's one thing. But, at Key Arena they were actually using a metal detector on random people. My wife and I are going with some friends, and I don't want to cause a scene trying to argue my rights at the concert.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

last time i was there was for a departure ceremony for a military unit heading to Iraq. there were no signs posted anywhere that said no weapons. the did have a table set up for go through bags and purses and some handheld metal detectors that were being used randomly. i had just walked up from Puyallup ave and wasn't going to walk all the way down and back up so i took my chances. the person at the table asked me to open my jacket, which i did and he let me through. my CCW was IWB and under a sweatshirt. they never knew. even at the table where they were checking people, there were still no signs against weapons. it might be wise to take a look-see before you go in and observe if they are wanding everone or not.

Greg,

This apparently points to a grey area in the laws in Washington ... The RCW (Revised Code of Washington) does note that concealed weapons are prohibited in any stadium or convention center operated by a city ... but then apparently exempts folks with valid CPLs ... I know for sure that if you're going to the Tacoma Dome for a high school football or basketball game, RCW Sec. 9.41.300(1) specifically prohibits CCW, since it then becomes a public facility being used by a public school.

I'm planning on being at that concert, but I was planning on just leaving my weapon locked in my car. My daughter told me the last concert she went to at the Tacoma Dome, bags were being checked and people were being wanded.

Hmmm...

Thanks for the input. You know Old Dog, I had never thought about a High School sports event turning the Dome into a High School Facility. I've gone there before to watch the State Wrestling finals, and for the lif of me, I can't rememebr if I was carrying or not.

Guess I'll have to be more careful from now on.

Like you, I think I'll just leave my gun in the car...but I'm not happy about it. :(
