I love my 110 in 7-08. It has a fine trigger and groups great. An all around keeper. My ONLY pet peeve with it is the tang safety. It is just plain a pain with cold gloved hands. I thought about attaching some sort of nub on it for added surface area to push on, but the bolt passes to close over the top of it to do so. Any comments/suggestions?

The posistion of the safety is one of my favorite features on Savages. So no suggestions here. BTW welcome aboard

Gotta go with Peetmoss...A tang or any other thumb operable safety is one of my favorite features on a rifle or shotgun. A little higher profile for those in the frozen north might be a good idea though.

i assume the guns is NOT one of the accu-trigger equipped '03 target/varmint/tactical models...... and thus has the safety slider that looks like a long, low, serrated hump.

unfortunately, the following info won't be of much if any help to you, simply passing this on for "enlightenment of those not yet aware"..

the Accu-trigger redesign also incorporates a modified safety "slider" that is teardrop shaped, raised at the forward edge and rather positvely grooved. the new slider button (that the right term?) design is in my opinion worlds better than the previous design. i only ever used my own savage as a bench gun and i STILL found that almost flat, stiff little bugger of a safety to be a PITA.
rather looks to me as if customer feedback was acted upon so as to improve the "fire control group" system in as many of the ways requested/commented on as possible. and thus start the savage rifles down the raod to being an even better value by weeding out those features found lacking.....

Oh and a possbile fix if you are willing to try it and/or can get a spare "slider" (here after called safety selector). is to cut-away or file down the rear portion of the selector so that there is a more pronounced "high spot" in the middle of the selector for your thumb to push against.

Just an idea, and if you procured a "spare" to try the modification out on, instead of monkeying with the original it wouldn't hurt to try it.

Detritus,

Nope, not one of the new accu-trigger models. Just one I saw in the news paper ads one day. Went and looked at it and bought it very reasonable. Kind of one of those fairy tale stories you hear from gun nuts from time to time. Priced way too cheap, basically brand new, great factory trigger pull (by luck I am sure) and turned out to be a shooter. I did float the barrell and bed the action but just because I have to tinker. Thanks for the idea.
