Question on annealing

I’m always shooting for consistency between reloads so I’ll anneal after each firing.

While you can likely get away with annealing every other time, it's just easier to just do it every time an not have to keep track of one more thing.

I do the same. There is enough crap to track on brass prep depending on how far down the rabbit hole you want to go.

I would say definitely shouder bump
Well, that is with a shoulder bump which makes matters worse because there is even less room for contraction.

This is going to sound like “once upon a time”, but happened to me when a couple of us were hot and heavy after a bunch of dog towns on a group of ranchers land. They wanted a dent put in them. Long days, lots of ammo used, didn’t want to slow down to anneal. I mean we’re were running 2 each 223s, 204s, and the .243s for when the distances got long. There was even one .22 WMR in the bunch. The cure of course is to be better prepared (more cases).

I gotta tell you that situation was a tough row to hoe :). Just gotta buck up and get with the program.

Anyway, it was high desert and I had a hell of a time finding a stick big enough to knock the bolt open :cuss:. You know, you just can’t fabricate stories like this!

Anneal or not to anneal, that is the question.

I would hate to have someone get a broken gun and blame reloading.
I had hunt like that. Come soot some jack rabbits they said. It was northern Nevada 2006, a rabbit population explosion.
I quickly gave up on my centerfire gun first the hour on account I was going to burn up my barrel and run out of ammo. My backup gun was a 22wmr "just incase my 223 got too hot" ha that was an understatement and a 22LR for plinking cans when there weren't any rabbits..... oh I had no idea how many rabbits there were going to be.
I couldn't load the 10/22 fast enough and my bolt action 22wmr was too hot to touch.
