Question on duplicating factory Winchester Cowboy Action Load

Hi all,

Anybody got a recipie to duplicate factory Winchester Cowboy Action load for .44 Special with 240grain lead flat nose 750fps muzzle velocity?

i asked our armorer who is a huge sass shooter, and he said to look at unique. u should check, but he said he loads 5.5 grains of unique in his 44 smith & wesson special.

Unique is a good place to start. 6.9 grains being the Lyman listed maximum at 820 fps. 6 - 6.5 would be about right for 750 fps. I use the 6.9 with 245 Keith SWC's and it is amazingly accurate but you will probably want a softer recoiling load for Cowboy Action. Good Luck, Bill
