I picked up a sporterized Swede Mauser with a Lyman 57 receiver peep sight installed. I'm trying to get the sight part off (using the quick release button) but nothing wants to budge. Not being familiar with this type of sight I could use some assistance on how to remove the darn thing Any ideas?

What are you trying to take off, the sight itself, or the elevation slide with the aperture? If the latter, you should be able to either press in or unscrew the "button" (depending on model), and pull the elevation slide up and off. That should expose the screws holding the sight base to the receiver.
