Question... S&W 'Diamond grips'

IIRC there was some discussion about the older S&W grips with a diamond around the screw holes being rarer and valuable?

I'm here at a older buddy's, going through his stuff... (He's starting to sell)
And I'm looking at all kinds of 'Diamond grips' from the small pannels, to the target stocks...
Atleast 10 pair.

Do I remember correctly?
(If so I'll help him put them up for sale to get him some of the $ he could use...)

Some more valuable than others. Condition, demand and rarity will drive the prices, i.e. a set of mint pre-war diamond N frame Magna will lilely fetch a lot more than a set of well used diamond's off a square butt Model 10 from 1966.

If he still has the revolvers the grips came off of he would get more for the revolvers with the orginial grips on them, assuming the revolvers are in decent condition.

EBay bidders will snap up those diamond stocks as fast as you list them, for prices you won't see anywhere else. The only thing crazier is the price of COLT stocks.

Will's right about condition and rarity. N-frame stocks sell for more than K-frame and target stocks are more than magna stocks.

With Or Without Diamonds

These days, any S&W factory walnut grips (with the S&W medallions) is a
hot comodity, if found in excellent shape~!

Many S&W stock types and I don't know all the variations.

The 3 basic types are Service, with the rounded top showing all of the side plate on the gun, the Magna and the Target. Magnas came out in 1935 and pre-war N frame Magnas in good shape will sell for $300-$500 or more. The "diamond" N frame Magnas from 1946-1968 will fetch $50-$100 with ease. The "Diamond" N frame Targets from 1952 to 1968 bring $75-$300 depending on condition and subtle variations in style.

The big enchilada right now is the "Coke" N frame Targets sold on the .41 and .44 Magnums from 1957-1964. They has a slight palm swell (look like a Coke bottle in profile) hence the name. In good shape these will sell for $400-$600.

The various K frame stocks bring far less.
