I have a 28" ported bbl on my mossy 500a. I bought a set of chokes for it and one of them is an extended length choke that is ported as well. So my question is since the barrel is already ported would using the extended ported choke help, hurt, not make any difference at all??

I don't care for porting unless it's in a compensator of some kind. I have a factory compensated .30-30 barrel for my Contender that really does work to reduce recoil to near nothing. I have a muzzle brake on a Hakim battle rifle that does the same. Yes, they're noisy, but there is at least a beneficial return for the extra noise. :D In my experience, compensators work, ports...not so much.
 
Why don't you just try it and find out?

If you notice a differance, and the ported tube is a choke size you want to use, use it.

Cuz it's friggin COLD outside! LOL I haven't had a chance to even shoot the gun yet, I was just curious if it would be a detriment to have the possibilty of "too much" porting/compensation. I am not Super concerned about recoil.

You really aren't going to gain or loose anything. It will just be louder. If you are going to hunt with it, you sure don't want it to be any louder, and it will get dirty faster as the gases leaving the ports will cause powder build up .

I tried ported chokes a long time ago in my o/u shotguns. They really get packed with powder residue between the chokes.

Hell, if that were the case, it'd be 120 degrees in Washington DC.

Hmmm let's see. Let's go with all the hot air and bs steaming out of D.C. caused a big hole in the ozone layer directly above the region that allowed the extreme temperature and pollution to escape, hence keeping temperatures at a relatively normal state? :uhoh:
