I keep losing the zero with my Tasco Scope on my .270. I looked at the Nikon Buckmaster today at a gun store. It was $350 before taxes.
Is this a good scope to hold zero and Is this a good price?
Any help would be appreciated, Thank you.

$350 seems way to much to pay for a buckmaster. It is one of Nikon's lower end scopes, and should cost less than say, $220 or so. It isn't a bad scope, but if you willing to pay $350 you can get a much nicer scope than the buckmaster.

Edited to add: "I'm assuming your looking at the 3-9x40 model."

I would say $350 is too much for a Nikon Buckmaster 4.5x14. The normal retail is $280, but that might have gone up by a little. I paid $240 dealer price last year. I bought a second scope for $130, which was a steal. Good clear glass for the money. I have the side focus models with mil dot reticle. I think you will be happy with Nikon products for price point and the lifetime warranty.

the Buckmaster line is their midgrade and the $300+ is too much...way too close to full retail; for that kind of money, you would be in the range of a Weaver Grand Slam, Nikon Monarch, Bushnell 3200/4200, Leupold VII, Sightron SII...the buckmaster line is a good & solid scope and should give you excellent service

I like mine

from SWFA for much less than $350
I paid more like 149 for a 6-18 Var?
anyway mine is excellent and my friends who have shot my rifle liked it also

Depends which Buckmaster you are looking at. I paid about $350 for my 6-18x40 and I'm extremely happy with it. As a photogrpaher I swear by everything Nikon and have had good relations with the company for many years. IMO price the Buckmaster is a great buy for the price, if you want a decent affoardable scope then there is absolutely nothing wrong with them. I would shop around to see what the best prices are. I try to shop locally so I sometimes end up spending a little more, but I feel better inside:D However if you don't feel like supporting your local economy by shopping at your local gun store you can find great deals on these scopes all over the internet and also on ebay.

Here is my Rem LTR with Buckmaster on it.

Duckster;

I'll agree with just about all the other people who responded; that's way too much. How much too much? Here's the hard data.

Go to: wwww.natchezss.com & look at the Nikon Monarchs on sale. I just bought another Monarch 3.3-10X A/O mil-dot there. The first I bought at wholesale through my FFL about a year ago. I saw the number, & got it at wholesale since it was part of a package deal. The Natchez price is less than I paid wholesale for the first scope. In other words, you can get a Monarch for as much, or possibly less, than what you're being asked to pay for a Buckmaster's.

I have one Buckmaster's, it's not the glass my Monarch's are and I have no trouble telling the difference.
