I'm considering a move to the Ogden area. So I have a few questions and didn't know where else to post them.

Is Utah shall-issue?
How is the fishing & hunting?
And for those familiar with the Ogden area itself,
How tough do you think it would be to find a rental house where my wife could keep her horse until we found someplace to purchase?

Yes. Everything you need to know is here: http://www.bci.utah.gov/CFP/CFPHome.html

Depends on what you are hunting and fishing for and how far in the state you're willing to travel. There's some great hunting and some lousy hunting. Great fishing and lousy fishing.

It's possible, but might take you a bit of looking and you may need to live further out than you like. Your best bet may be to hit up someone like this and see if they have any rentals leads: http://www.uthorseproperties.com/

Well your first 2 were answered, but to your third there is some horse rental properties around but even if you can't find a rental for horses, some places will board your horse and you pay with time. I have a few friends in Tooele county that do that.

Thank you guys. Jorg, I mostly fish ultralight for smallmouth bass for the fight, and night fish for bullhead for the pan.
I have a Michigan carry permit already...I wonder if an unexpired permit can transfer somehow so the process doesn't leave a hole in the coverage, so to speak.
As for the horse, we board her now, and it drives my wife nuts, because of course, noone else takes care of her like my wife does. However, it seems that there isn't a minimum acreage requirement in the rural areas, which will help,

According to this site:

Utah and Michigan seem to have reciprocity agreements for carry permits, so your current permit should be good here until it expires. You will probably need to notify the applicable authorities in Michigan of your change of address though.
