A quote from the Beretta site: the commercial M9 pistol is the closest replica to the military M9 that a civilian may legally own.

This quote obviously begs the question: what's the difference between the two variants, anyways?

Reaper: In that video, the triggers were also different but not mentioned.

The M-9 trigger had more curve than the 92FS.

You can't legally own an M9 because they are government property, and that would be stealing. Other than that, it's whoopee and yeehaw.

The only real difference, really, is that the military M9 is all metal, making it able to withstand more abuse, more shots downrange without repair.

Maybe some minor differences in sights or trigger or whatever, but nothing that really matters aside from the all metal construction.. save for the plastic grips.

Another question that could be asked is: What, if anything, would make an M9 better than an FS model? I have an older FS, all metal, and can't find anything about it that significantly makes it less than an M9 (both have the slide channel safety feature). They have slightly different sight accents (dot/bar, 3-dots). Except for the markings, you might mix parts and they would work the same.................

The differences are superfluous. An argument can be made to where the civilian version may even be superior.

My M9 Commercial pistol does not have consumer warnings stamped into the frame and slide. I figured that I was smart enough to know that the pistol could fire without a magazine, and that reading the owner's manual would likely be a good idea and did not need the reminders .
