With 230s my gun likes both 4.7 and 5gr of HP38.
4.7 is softer, 5.0 maybe a hair more accurate

Hodgdon data
230 GR. HDY FMJ FP Hodgdon HP-38 .451" 1.200" 4.2 751 13,800 CUP 5.3 832 16,800 CUP
230 GR. LRN Hodgdon HP-38 .452" 1.200" 4.3 699 12,200 CUP 5.3 834 16,900 CUP

looks like 5.6 is 3/10s over what they list as MAX.

Like it was stated W231/HP38 are the same the only difference is lot to lot. In the past I had a jug of both and they had the same lot #. I wish I had taken a pic.

The Colt mag SHOULD be TRASHED. Do you just pay for the name?

No, you are paying for a generic 1911 magazine designed to function in a standard (read: 5") 1911. Shorter pistols change the cycle geometry of the 1911. Magazines are also a wear item, and they can get damaged in the course of use. Recognize this...

When I bought my 4" Kimber, I had all sorts of feed problems... but it came with a generic 1911 magazine. I switched to the Chip McCormick PowerMags and haven't had a problem in 15 years. Every pistol is different, and you may have to hunt for a magazine that likes your pistol and the type of ammos you shoot.

That’s just a sign you don’t own enough 1911’s if you don’t have any that will run on a regular mag. ;)

I wouldn’t want you to waste any money or add junk to your local landfill. PM me your address and I’ll cover the cost of shipping to me and your gas to get to the post office. I’ll put your trash to use.

I have 2 Sti 2011, the shorter .40 gun has the same mag issues but I mostly have it tuned right. But, my 5.5” 9mm will feed ANYTHING!

this is my 1st 1911 45acp, different beast but the same issues. MAGS! no wonder people carry Glocks! lol

I’m trying to find more of the silver Wilson mags but it looks like they are older designs. Anybody ever try these Wilson mags on short 1911’s?

I briefly over heard, the Old Guys at the Gun Club talk about Chip McCormick. Are they that good?? I’ll give it a shot

If you have the single stack conversion grip for it, like the one in my video, you should get ahold of the ACT mags. They are the only ones that work for me with that grip in the 2011’s.
I’ll check it out now! thank man

Single stacks are different than double stacks. Nosedive is an issue in single column magazines because of how the rounds sit in a magazine. The more rounds in the magazine, the greater the nosedive. Nosedive can produce feeding problems. Double stack mags, if designed properly, won't have a significant nosedive problem.

They worked for me, that's all I can say. That is not saying other mags won't work as well, either... sometimes you just have to spend a little money on a few different mags to see which one works best.

Well, I’m planning to buy more 1911’s, so what the hey, I’ll just buy a bunch and give it a run!
