Quick Question: Safely pulling .22 LR bullets

I've pulled a bunch of dud .22 LR bullets using an RCBS collet puller.

Since I didnt have a shellholder that fit the rim of a .22 LR case, I used a large primer shellholder and inserted the .22 shell up through the priming hole. Then held the round in place with my finger while I very lightly tightened the collet. When the press arm is raised, the bullet will pull with almost no force.

Back before my department issued 10/22's for feral animal control, I used to carry a few .223's loaded subsonic with pulled .22 LR bullets to dispatch injured animals.

Accuracy wasn't great, but hitting the brain of a car hit deer from 4 or 5 feet away doesn't require sniper grade performance.

That's a lot of work to go through when you can buy some .224 Hornet bullets in the 45 grain SP variety and seat them over a load of Red Dot loaded to travel at .22 LR velocities. Apparently there's not a big market for 22 MAG tracers anywhere out there or there would be some available out there.

Impact puller with rimfire ammunition…

That only sounds safe if you have someone hold your beer and video it.
It would be better if he did it in Florida. That way the headline would read, “Florida man shoots self…” etc.
If I recall, those guns are known for having incorrectly indexed barrels so one shoots very differently from the other. That’s not on purpose, according to the company literature. It’s just really hard to regulate short barrels in a cheap receiver.
It might make a decent snake gun loaded with #9 shot.
