I know that they have been around for a relatively long time, but just wanted to give my first impressions.

My wife actually won this little handgun in a charity gun bash. $30 ticket and you get a free gun. Not bad. I don't think that this is something that I would ever actually lust after and buy, but for free, I'll take 2.

First opening the box, the pistol is inside what looks like a little day-planner. Cute. If it didn't say Kel-tec embroidered on the front, nobody would ever suspect. Unzipping the day planner, this gun is light, and tiny. I have pretty big hands (I'm 6'3", large framed, 280 lbs with a 10.5" span from tip of thumb to tip of pinky) and this thing all but disappears in my paw.

To the range it went, first through 50 rnds of Blazer hardball 71gr, then Remington UMC ball 71 grain. The Rem stuff seemed a bit hotter. Just for good measure, I put a magazine ful of the intended carry ammo through it, Winchester 60 gr. Silvertips. More muzzle flip with those, but not difficult to control. The hardest part was getting both of my mitts to wrap around the gun without it getting lost in my sleeve.

Surprisingly I had no failures at all from this little guy in just a little over 100 rounds. I did clean it thouroghly before the range trip, and after returning home there was very little wear apparent on the inside. Fit and finish actually doesn't look that bad. There are some normal wear points that will need some attention and some gun grease, but after some more extensive ammo testing I think that this one might see some carry time by either the missus or I. She is very recoil sensitive, and had no problems running her share of the ammo. That may have something to do with the better hearing protection I got her, but I digress.

There is no external safety on her, and a long DA trigger pull that probably breaks close to 7 lbs, I would say at a guess. I would consider that trigger pull as safe as my .357 snub, you have to mean it to pull that trigger.

So, finally, I will give the Kel-Tec a solid 3 out of 5, the low grade mostly because I would like to be carrying something with a bit more oomph behind it, but it gets extra marks for concealability and price. Hows that for a review that nobody is particularly interested in? :D

Like you said, you can't beat the price. Actually, I bought a used 1st gen P32 last summer. I have several hundred rounds through it without any problems. I load mine with 73gr. Fiocchi. It's a little hotter than american made ammo, plus the over all length of the cartridge greatly reduces the chance of rim lock. All you need now is a good pocket holster and your good to go. BTW, here a couple of sites you'll find useful for Kel Tec information.

Nicely done range report; thank you.:)
You might want to read this article on the use of .32 ACP hollow points (or any shorter overall length ammo).

Greg

Oops, I see tech4061 has already pointed the rimlock issue out to you.
