gday
i am going into professional rabbit shooting
i need a scope for a .22 rifle... it will need to reach out to about 140 metres...there will also be some reasonably close shots of about 40 metres...all shots must be head shots... i will also need some form of rangefinding reticle...wether that be mil dot or some other form...above all it needs to be a maximum of 6x atleast and CLEAR... i have a budget of $350 to spend on it... i do not mind a fixed power scope...it should also have adjustable parallax oh... the rifle is a cz 452 american...suggestions please?
thankyou for taking the time to look at my post...:)

Well, one of the first things you want to consider is the line of sight plane - it's height above the bore line.

When you are doing precision shots (head shots on a rabbit), at multiple ranges including fairly short ranges as you describe, the most important thing is to get the scope low, low, low, so that the bullet doesn't hit too low on close in shots.

So I'd go with a maximum objective size for that use of 40mm, but would also consider 32mm and 36mm objectives. And use the lowest possible high quality rings to get the objective bell almost kissing the barrel.

On that budget, I'd take a hard look at getting a used (Ebay?) Nikon Buckmasters 4.5-14x40mm with an adjustable objective lens, such as this one:

Lotta scope for the money, and in the budget if you go used. The AO allows you to dial out the parallax error at a given range.

i should also point out that 90% of the shots will be taken from a car... there will be some times where i will go for a leisurely walk...
i would also like a fixed 6x with adjustable parralax for a walk around varminter...

You will have a hard time finding a 6x fixed power with AO.
Because it isn't needed much below 10x at normal ranges.
Only air rifle scopes will have AO because they are shot at much closer ranges, like 10 meters, for competation.

If you buy a quality .22 scope without AO to start with, and not a big-game scope, the parralax will be set at the factory for .22RF ranges of about 60 or 70 yards.

Parralax error at those low powers is not enough to cause any problems with accuracy at closer range.

And I can guarantee you that you will not be able to stand on your hind legs and shoot rabbits in the head far enough away for parallax error to make one whit of difference with a 6x scope.

If you want AO, you will need to get into at least a 3x-9x-40 variable to get it.

rcmodel... i will not need to stand to take thos shots often because there are some piles of timber to shoot off... but i am open to all suggestions on a scope that would be a dual purpose walk around scope as well as a scope to shoot out of a car
