Why is a race gun called a race gun?
They are the funkiest looking competition class rifles I've ever seen.
And are those weights that you put on the buttstock to balance the rig for the standing position when competing in long range high power competition?

Well, because they are for racing? Kind of like a race car I suppose.

And yes, that is what the weights are for.

When I see "race gun," I'm thinking some kinda .38 Super USPSA lead hose with a red dot on it, a compensator and a billion round magazine.

And on a match rifle, yeah, that's what the weights are for. That's the cool thing about a match rifle, you can tailor them to the shooter a lot easier than you can a service rifle.
