Man they are nice guns. I really regret selling mine. The Politicians stopped them from being shipped any long. I sold mine a few years ago for around $350. After that the Prices of them keep going up. I believe they went as high as $600.00. Much has been written about the over the years. As the Air Gun Guru Tom Gaylord said in one of his reviews, "These guns shoot as well as guns costing thousands of dollars more.". I am guessing but I would say $400.00. You might want to check over at the "Yellow forum". A lot of experience about them over there. Hope you get it. They are more accurate than any human is capable of shooting. I had a lot of fun with mine. Miss it.

Here is mine when I had it up for sale. The new owner got a really good deal at the time as I needed cash. Be carefull the trigger on these guns can be adjusted down to mere fraction of ounces. Like a 6 way adjustment. NICE!
I sold mine back in 2007. They were selling for around $400.00 at Pyramid Air. I threw in the Red Dot in my self. Later the prices went way up.

I bought one of those when they were a brand new thing in this country. And paid very little for it.

Whatever you paid (within reason), they are worth it.
They are really good shooting guns.

Ended up paying $ 600 for a pair of them
( as in 2 pistols ) with a metal case and an extra set of grips. Shipping will be another $40 (?).

Just recieved them today. Both are 46M's. Interestingly one is left hand one is right. Tried them in the basement ~40ft. Didnt think one worked, then figured out how to cock it - duh. Shoots good

As I mentioned, I had to sell mine when a time came that I needed cash. Sure do miss it. They are 10 meter Olympic style match shooting pistols. However a gun that was so much fun, and had a :cult" like following was the IZH Baikal Model 60 and 61. I had four of them and if you can ever find the model 60 with Steel Breech, then jump on it. Super accurate little air rifles. I have so much fun with these. The earlier models like the 60 steel breech had a six way trigger adjustment that was almost like match grade gun costing in the thousands. Ironically these guns were selling for around $100.00.
Put a Bug Buster scope on it and you could shoot the wings off a gnat.
Below is the rifle and a pic of one of my favorite pastimes which I call "Wind Shooting" I will take a day with a slight wind and try and shoot the center vein in a leaf. Takes time and Patience but a whole lot of fun.

+1 about that little Russian sidecocker. I have one. It is all that you say. I mounted a an extra Anschutz diopter rear that I had. The sight cost twice what the gun did.
I have a Model 46m...bought right when they started to come into the country.
It is my back up gun for match shooting.
The 46m is the gun that is given to shooters who arrive without an air pistol at the very fine Anderson Range at Camp Perry in Port Clinton, Ohio during the National matches.
What keeps the 46M from more general use by serious match shooters is the same as what led to the replacement of the equally fine Feinwerkbau model 65.....you have to cock the thing for every shot. For general shooting....no problem. For match shooting - air pistol is a game of tens - cocking 60 times does not contribute to higher scores.

These were perfect Little Rifles for the Anschutz Diopter rear sights.Tom Gaylord, the Air Gun Guru that has been around for decades use to write quite a bit about these rifles. One Christmas he wrote a article called "My Gift to you". The Little Black Russian.

Give me about a day and I will help you out. I will try and contact Steve the owner. It has always been that way for years. You will get in.

By the way, here is a old memory of my 46m. I had just received it. For some reason the trigger had been adjusted down to almost nothing. Why it came like this was beyond. I further did a stupid thing and loaded up a pellet went to sit down and bingo. The slightest bump set it off. Right in the heel. Man, these really are olympic match grade triggers. Be careful.LOL, as you can see, it is a "Wadcutter" pellet.

For 10m AP the trigger should be set at higher than 500 gram pull, else it'll fail inspection and not be permitted for competition use. It's possible to set the Baikal 46m trigger much, much lighter than that of course, and I guess in your case someone felt that a hair trigger was a good idea. Too bad you had to find out the hard way that it really wasn't a good idea. Easy enough to adjust it back up to proper pull weight of course. Testing can be done with anything around 520 grams or slightly heavier hung from a wire hook, gently set on the middle of the trigger blade while the (unloaded and cocked) pistol is pointed at the ceiling.

interesting....one would think that 500g trigger would be pretty darn light (and it is, only 17.6 OZ) when compared to a 3.5lb trigger on a centerfire target gun like a 1911. It is, of course, all relative.
I used to shoot international matches out at the Wilkes-Barre Rifle and Pistol club. The matches started with outdoor Precision pistol (Free Pistol) and then one infiltrated to an indoor Air Pistol match. The "Free" pistols have triggers that run around 2 OUNCES. After 60 shots with those guns, going to the 17 oz airgun trigger was an exercise in adjustment.

I've heard that in Olympic style Free Pistol triggers typically range between 7grams and 25grams, generally below 1oz. That's spooky territory as far as I'm concerned. But it's a highly specialized sport with very weird looking and feeling grips, so what do I know.

One tip on the 46M is to leave the little block that lifts up to access the chamber and also cocks the hammer unlatched while storing the gun. The two O-rings that channel the air from the valve to the barrel will flatten over time if stored locked down and will begin to leak eventually. Leave it unlatched and the O-rings should last a lot longer.

I used to own a FWB 65.. I sold it after I picked up my first IZH46 locally for under $200. Aside from feeling better made, the IZH outshot it handily, was quieter, easier to cock.
Years later, I picke dup a fixer upper 46M, missing the rear sight. I fabricated one up, but finally managed to get my hands on a diopter peep rear from Russia.

At about 3-4 meters, you should be able to shoot pea sized groups if you do your part.

I also shaped the grips a bit and stippled them, and added material to the 46M to restore the chopped tang. They made the grips a bit oversize and blocky to give you extra material to work with.
For my plinking a 8-12oz trigger is perfect. Also teaches trigger control when shooting things with double set triggers :D

Boy, you sure got a great deal. Congrats. Still regret selling mine. Here are some great picks of that wonderful trigger. I saw one posted for $600.00. (if you can ever find one). I liked mine so much I wanted to get this stock for it. Called the guy up and was ready to dish out the money, but he quite making them.
