Member @troy fairweather and I planned a range trip for today, starting between 9 and 10 today, life happened and I slept till almost 9, but did manage to pick him up arround 11:30. We arrived at my home range a little after noon. Range was quiet there was one pickup that arrived right after I opened yhe gate. Anyway we set up targets at 25 yds for some initial sight ins, had to mount my new droptine 4.5-14×42 and ecided too until it on my AR 15 5.56 in order to mount a known good optic on my 93 small ring mauser. This Bushnell banner 3-9 x40 has performed flawlessly on my AR for 2 years since I bought it at a thrift store.

Well sorry to say that the 7x57 needs more thorough investigation because the scope change didn't allow a zero. The upside is that the burris was nearly zeroed right at mounting, 5 round group at 25 were all within the aim point, couldn't see them at first but a walk to the 35 yd line revealed their location. Zero was verified at 100 yds then set fir 200 and first aim point on the back was dead on at 300 meters.

Did a side by side comparison between my burris ff2 and my new droptine both 4.5-14x42 and found that neither troy or myself couldn't see any optical difference between the 2 optics.

Troy brought several rifles including his cz American 7.62x39, ruger 77 7x57, mauser18 6.5prc and iirc Winchester 7mm wsm.

He let me shoot his cz, ruger 77, and m18 6.5 prc. Was pretty impressed with all 3 rifles but found that his 6.5 prc to be a cartridge that I'm capable of shooting as the recoil, though heavy was quite manageable due to it being more of a push, slower recoil speed, than a fast sharp recoil like the 7mm mag. Hit the 200 meter plate one shot out of 2, my fault not the rifles cause it shot flatter than I expected.

Fact is that we both had a great time and got to stretch out our rifles legs a bit.

Yes had a great time today, definitely need to do again in the future. Btw the 7wsm is a Browning A-bolt lol, probably forgot since you didn't shoot that one lol. Was fun smacking the plates, I know the wsm and prc are powerful but was surprised the 175 7x57 load was smacking the plates. The 7.62x39 was impressive for being a intermediate round, and that at 300 was not dropping much.

Think I shot over 100 rounds today, loads were.
7wsm, factory win 150 power points I believe, ammo is cheaper then reloading right now.
7x57 was the same 42 grains of irm 4350 but with 175 hornady round nose and 175 noslor partitions.
6.5 prc 57.5 h-1000 and 147 eldm, shot a few of the 140 Speer hotcor with 57.0 h-1000
7.6x39 just some wolf and tula steel and a box of ppu brass.

Had a little weirdness with the ruger at the end of the day, was shooting a mag full and switching guns to let cool. Must have hit the 200 and 300 plates 10-15 times in a row inbetween coolings. Had bert shoot and he missed, then I tried and did to. Poa seemed to move a little higher. Maybe the barrel was getting dirty after the 40 some rounds shot, the last 3 I did but the 200 after aiming high on the plate. And when Bert shot I mentioned to him I need to get a new mag string it seems to be a little weak, said to be sure the bolt pick up the rounds, thought this happened. But had my first ever dead primer with reloads, thought that was weird. I'll pull the round tomorrow and see what's up.

Ive had quite a few dead primers lately, never had one untill maybe a year or two ago.

Actually i was out shooting with Dell at our long range spot on friday last week and we had maybe 3 from his reloads, which are all new stock he just got from the mainland.

I was hoping that Troy's dad would have been able to come along, but he hasn't been feeling all that good for the last couple of weeks. Wish he felt better. Miss talking on the phone and meeting up too.

I left my 93 mauser with Troy because the issue with it is a little beyond my scope for getting it shooting like it should and he and his father are much more familiar with mauser rifles. They are yhe most experienced guys that I know.

I just noticed the hat o brass lol. Multi use items!

They work as bags, ushers, wedges/rests, and brass deflectors....

Troy helped me figure out the meximauser ive got, im sure he can get your 93 shooting right!

I am too, most likely stock issue, though I have done some work on wood stocked rifles just not my string suit. I've done more with synthetic stocked rifles, just what I've had the most of in the last 10 years.

Lol couldn't have it on when shooting and brass kept it from blowing away. If that was factory ammo brass it would be like $300-$400 worth lol.

I ment to try that virsa pod bipod more but it wasn't playing well with the bunch hight. Have to try it on the ground.u do have to do something about the legs, they release under recoil. So maybe a heavier springs or I'll cut the notch some.

Always fun to meet or see others join up with fellow forum users. Ive met about 20 people from the bronco forum im on. All great people and its always a good time. Its great to interact with like minded folks! Ive gone as far as 900 miles for an event. 800 for another. Both totally worth it (maybe not at $5 a gallon and 10 mpg)

It's always nice to go get some trigger time in especially with another forum member. Thats not to say that I have done that with anyone that is a member of this forum. I have and quite frequently go to the range with a friend of mine that I met through the forum called the handloadersbench.com. It just happened to be by sheer coincidence that I moved to the same town he lives in 3 years ago.

It was surprising on the 4th of July there were only two other shooters that day, believe they were father and son. They did not come over and talk with us, I like to chat for a minute with other shooters and let them know when to put up targets or call cease fire. We waited for them to set up maybe 20 minutes, I didn't mind. Then we learned they must not have been to a range before or read the rules. Luckily were were keeping a eye on them but just as I was about to fire one is walking down the range at about the 25 yard line. They never called Ceasefire, this happened a few times since there target stand fell over like 5 times.

Then I see they have a shockwave out, from what I saw and heard it was there first time shooting it. I was waiting for the dad to get popped since he was trying to win it with the grip a inch from his face, Unfortunately they were just light rio loads. Of course bird shot was hitting are targets down range.

They did leave 20 44 mag cases so there was that.

You both say upstate, but your really downstate. I guess it depends on perspective. Any day at the range is a good day. Glad you got to go out.
Anywhere above Rockland is up state, I'm in orange county at one time we produced the most apples, milk, and onions then any other county in the USA. We also have the most registered hunters then any county in the U.S. At one time.

If I ever get to retire I’d love to drive around the country and go shooting with fellow High Roaders. I’d have to hop a plane to Hawaii too, can’t forget about Wulf. Stoked to see others here already taking advantage of opportunities to meet good people we know as online family.
