So, Saturday was a great day! Got shoot at a public range (first time), shoot some of my Dad's guns and shoot a flintlock! .
A friend of his from his Military days came along as well and brought some of the coolest weapons:
Winchester 94 .44 mag
.44 Pedersoli flintlock
Marlin model 99 .22lr
Kentucky long rifle in ? (don't remember)
My Dad brought his Mosin-Nagant M91/30 &
FN 5.7 (Pictured here at his shooting bench with the 5.7 and M-N)
Also, SIG P229 .40
I brought out my Ruger 10/22 carbine(stock) w/4X el cheapo Bushmaster scope
& a Marlin M60 bone stock (irons).
Shot a whole brick through the .22's (Remington Thunderbolt)
Two or three out of every box failed to fire or would not chamber in the Model 60. The Ruger worked flawlessly....until one of the little 10 round Mags got stuck....still can't get the dang thing out .
Nothing serious (had printed targets to participate in this month rimfire match, I just got too wrapped up in shooting everything else), mind you; but great fun all the same. Everyone was smiling, especially a guy about three tables down from us that had an flat-top AR w/burst. Every time he hit the trigger, he would look up and down the line with the biggest s-eatin' grin . I was happy for him as well.
A great day to be an American and exercise our rights and have some fun at the range (too bad it faces East, hard to see front blde on the M60).
I went home sun burnt, tired, sore shoulder (from the .44 Mag rifle, the Mosin was not bad at all) but grinning like a Cheshire cat .
I've got to do this more often....
