Getting ready for the April training course: I shoot lots of guns so I wanted to get used to and refine my weapon system for the course. I put 600rounds in 2 days sighting in an verifying a Colt preban HBAR A-2 config with A.R.M.S. #39 mount with M-68 rings holding Aimpoint Comp ML-2. This Colt is stock with about 1500 previous rounds with only a well done 5# trigger job. Only other attachments are a GG&G SLIC mount combo front slingthing with flaslight holder. First I changed my 1000" Zero to the "new improved" 50 yard zero with the 1/16" allen key ect. Then I checked 100 &200 yard zero's with small peep. Then I checked 25yards with big aperture. Finnally I turned on Aimpoint and zero'd at 50 and 100 yards not using Irons. The co witness is almost but not identical. Anybody know why? I stripped down gun found the two screws under M-68 mount loose.I locktighted everything with threads and cleaned gun. I will shoot 300rnds a week until April course. Will practice mounts and multiple target aquisitions. I like this set up better than my flat tops and shorties but then again I am used to the handle spot weld since 69. BTW the Aimpoint delivers about 4-6" groups slow fire offhand at 100yds with M855 ammo. How does that rate?

Considering the MOA of those red dots, good for off-hand and rendering a foeman hors de combat.

Surplus ammo can be finicky. I bought some stuff that groups 4-6 inches when benched at 100 and other stuff that shoots 2" @ 100.
