Picked up a Taurus Mil Pro 140 this weekend at a gun show and just got back from the range for the first outing. WWB, Rem, PMC, and Fed ammo no malfunctions of any kind. I'll need to shoot it more to get use to the trigger, in fact I'm surprised how much mental effort it takes to shoot well. I like the trigger for what it is and it is what I wanted for a ccw but I need to shoot it more. I was very pleased with the overall function of the firearm. Recoil was controllable with the force begin directed straight back and up without twist or torque. I anticipated it being fairly flippy but was impressed with how well it shot and felt. I'm very happy with the weapon. However, impact was 2.5 inches low and slightly left and I was only shooting at 15 feet. Impact was the same with all ammo. So…how the heck to you adjust the sights to point of aim?

Well, before you start monkeying with your sights, make sure that you have a proper grip and aren't jerking it. If I am telling you something you already know, I apologize for preaching to the choir, but I shot low and left for the longest time with virtually every handgun I picked up at all reasonable ranges (including in close) and it was all because I was mugging the trigger, a bad habit that I still have to conciously think about every time I grip a handgun. Remember that the first joint of your trigger finger is about as far on the trigger that you should go. Again, if I am telling you something you already know, I hate to be Preachy McPreachalot, but that might be the problem.

Thanks TimboKhan, Yeah, as soon as I saw where the impact was I slowed everything way down...it tightened the group but still impacted way low. I shoot ipsc weekly for several years and can usually trouble shoot my form. I even benched the firearm and still impacted as low. I was very aware of sights, long slow trigger pull, surprised by the shot but still low. Where I really broke down was trying to double tap...I'm going to need to shoot this gun a lot before I can control the trigger well enough for accurate doubles...or even quick singles. For combat distances, 15 feet and closer, I can hit center mass but I need to shoot it often to get no thinking comfortable with it. Thanks again for the assist.

A friend of mine picked up a new PT140 last week also. I was suprised how little felt recoil it has. The trigger will take a lot of practice to get used to, but overall it seemed like a good pistol. But he was not used to the long DA trigger and by the end of the day he had blistered his trigger finger :uhoh:
