I went to a friends house to try out my new Ruger Blackhawk convertible. Right out of the box the Blackhawk was sighted in. At 10 yards I had no problem hitting a 3 inch spinner. Off to my friends house I went.

He had a new Deltron AR-15. The Deltron has a ghost ring sight that is very easy to get used to. In 3 shots I was hitting golf balls at 50 yards. I was pleased with the ergonomics of the Deltron. If I ever want another AR the Deltron is on my short list.

I also shot his Ruger GP-1000. The double action is easier to reload and there is really no difference in accuraccy at 30 yards. Both of us were able to hit bowling pins at 30 yards - golf balls at 20 yards. I did better with the Blackhack at 50 yards but I haven't shot either pistol enough to say if one was superior. Both weapons are more accurate than I am. At 50 yards I was hitting a 6 inch spinner about half the time with the Blackhack shooting UMC 125 grain JSP. Not bad for right out of the box.

After shooting semi auto's for quite a while the wheel guns were a welcome relief. We had no FTE/FTF from anything. In comparison the revolvers are more like a watch that goes bang.

Sounds like a fun day at the range!

There's no doubt that there's some differences in the handling of the DA swing out guns and the SA gate loaders. The grips are different enough that I like having a few of each.

And yeah, they are really a whole other shooting experience compared to the semi auto stuff.
