I'd be split on this answer. Sometimes with friends and/or family. When doing some serious testing, alone and alone means nobody but me at the range.

I really have no one to go shooting with me, so even at a piblic range during the week, never on weekends with crazy wannabes, I am "alone".

Abstained from voting.

If going to practice, dial in, or for general enjoyment, alone.

If going to run drills, train, etc then there’s one or two people I prefer to have with me.

My dad got me into firearms, and I'm lucky enough that I still get to go shooting with him once every week or two. That's how I prefer to spend time at the range.

But I don't mind taking friends or other family, and every once in a while I'll take off work early to go shoot off a few on my own.

Most of the time, I prefer going alone. I go mostly to clear my mind of stress from work by focusing on load comparisons, practice technique, etc. I don’t really prefer to be at the range with no other shooters around though. So, I guess you could say I like to shoot alone, but not by myself.

Alone and usually a very short well under 30 minute session. These days when I go to the range it is with a very specific agenda; to test some ammo or repair or try new equipment rather than relaxation or socialization. Often I'll be at the line for less than ten minutes and use one or two magazines or speedloaders of ammo.

Even though I'm now vaccinated I still try to avoid going into any store or shop unless absolutely necessary.

I have a range at home so the only reason for me to got elsewhere is to shoot with friends that can't handle shooting outdoors on my range or for longer ranges than I have. That makes my answer both.

Mine answer is both.

I thoroughly enjoyed shooting alone especially if I am working up a load or zeroing in a new firearm.

But I also thoroughly enjoy going to a match and shooting with and against other people. You learn allot from other people especially those better or more experienced.

I also liked getting together with my family & friends for some recreational shooting.

Well since I shoot mostly black powder these days and I'm an Instructor, most of my time at the range is me time and sometimes my elderly dad goes with depending on conditions.

For sighting in or testing loads, I prefer to shoot alone so that I can concentrate and not feel rushed.

When shooting clay pigeons, I prefer to be with friends as it is fun to have others to leisurely compete with. Also, it helps having others to launch the pigeons.

When shooting my fun guns (non-hunting guns, military surplus guns, and pistols), it depends on my mood. When I’m with someone, I enjoy the sense of letting others use my guns and seeing their satisfaction in playing with a new “toy.” When I’m alone, it’s enjoyable because I can concentrate, work on skills, and try new things.

Alone, most always. Although I do love letting folks shoot my guns, I get more productive practice alone with no distractions.

When I was young, and my ego ruled, I needed someone around to see how great I was, but now, the only shooting buddies I need are the wife or my daughter.

Early on I enjoyed going with fellow shooting buddy's. Due to time-work schedule differences I have been going solo. Accustomed to it now so that doesn't bother me.

Alone.

I spend enough time with people as is. My range time is also my “get the heck away from civilization including all other human beings” time. Luckily, I live near the desert and am not tied to visiting local public outdoor ranges or *shudders* indoor ranges.

When I go to the gun club, I prefer solo. When I go to the indoor range in Columbus I enjoy going with my buddies so that we can shoot and compare then do some shopping at the various LGS, so it's pretty much a 50/50 split for me.

You might not have much of a choice, after a corporate merger induces your only two coworker/gun buddies to move to a different time zone (other crew bases- ATL, JFK - easier commutes).

A somewhat recent guy transferred two years ago, and the most recent buddy is a home builder here (outside a lot) and doesn't want to shoot in typical summer heat.

I dont wanna leave all my guns just laying on a table in a big crowded public outdoor range but Im not gunna pack up all my stuff and lock it in the car every time I gotta pee.

THIS IS THE TRUE CRUX OF THE QUESTION.
