Well it was pretty nice here today so I decided after work I would snag a buddy and go to the range.
Brought my 1942 M39 and a couple boxes of Barnaul 203gr softpoint hunting ammo.
Couple weeks back I determined Hungarian heavyball was the best diet for this rifle. It has made some 1.5" 3 shot groups (the Finn standard for service acceptance) @ 100+ yards and will just ring the hell out of the gongs at both 200 and 300 yards.
Today though I didn't want to mess with the after show corrosive wash down so I used the new production stuff.
40 rounds later I am going to have to pony up some money to help buy new gongs. Those rounds looked like they were exploding down range when hitting that steel. Very satisfying. I love this rifle. Even managed a few such hits in a sitting position, no rest.
The money is saved and another one of these rifles is in my near future.
