I've been avoiding the range this last couple of weeks because of the extreme heat here in Maryland - in my area, with the heat index, it's been over 100 virtually every day. Today: 103 after adding in the 80% humidity. Like most people, it's not the heat that bothers me, but the humidity. When I hit that thick air, I start sweating like a glass of water; makes shooting difficult, especially when it fogs up the shooting glasses, or gets in my eyes.

So today I waited until 7 pm, hoping that would cut the heat; no such luck!
So I made the trip woefully brief; for someone who ideally loves to spend alllll day at the range, I was only there 30 minutes today :(

I had three 16-round mags for my 9mm CZ-75B, loaded with some CCI Blazer Brass I picked up on clearance ($5.00!) at the local WalMart, which is clearing out the non-sellers. Too bad I don't shoot 300 Win Mag - there was a box of Federal Fusion marked down from $24 for 20 rounds to $12...!

Anyway, I was disappointed with the CCI ammo. It disagreed with the CZ ... accuracy was well below the Winchester White Box, Magtech and American Eagle I've been shooting lately. Of course, some of it could be sweaty hands, brow, sweat in eyes, foggy glasses, etc. But where as I usually shoot 2" at 15 yards with WWB, I was shooting 3" and 4". There were some definite fliers not due to me. Nevertheless, I saved the brass.

But we're due for a cooler spell starting hopefully tomorrow, so I'll make another trip tomorrow or Friday, and then hit the gun show this weekend. Will post further... :)
