Just picked this one up. Been looking for a reasonably priced 12 gauge side-by-side scattergun and this one fit the bill. Nice gun--strong blueing and case hardening colors. Some wear and very light freckling on the bores. The stock was chipped immediately behind the right barrel. I have the chip and it fits pretty seamlessly back on the stock.

It has 30" barrels (with two beads on a solid rib), dual triggers, color-case hardened receiver (serial number 165678) and an automatic safety. The gun is only marked "Ranger" on the left side and "Precision Grade 104.3" on the left barrel.

I had thought that most of the Sears Ranger doubles were made by Savage, but this one--not too sure. The 104.3 model number doesn't correspond to any in my Blue Book. Also, there are two small screw heads on the right and left sides of the receiver back toward the stock. However, unlike the 311, these screws are arranged in line with each other, not diagonally. Does this sound like a Hunter Arms gun?

Thanks in advance. I'm mostly a rifle and pistol guy and know very little about shotguns.

I got one looks just like that, 20 gauge Ranger Model 101.5. Sold by Sears :) I think all those were sold as re-brands.
