I can now definitively say that thus far, the sear, rear sight, firing pin block and spring from an Astra A-75 do indeed work on a RAP, in this case an RAP 440. They slipped in without modification or fitting and work perfectly. And, as expected, the trigger is perfectly smooth. So, replacement parts for the RAP 440 or 401 are available from EAA.

I think my RAP 440 is rather heavy for its size, but I like the size. Heavy is bad if you carry it more than shoot it, but heavy is really good if you shoot it more than you carry it.

Accuracy doesn't seem to be as good as my Beretta 9000S using the same ammo -- to compare two guns with similar sight radius and barrel length. But I've not done exhaustive tests, its possible the situation might reverse with some other ammo (I've used Armscor & Wolf 180gr FMJ and my 180gr hard cast TC-FP reloads).

I got mine on an impulse at a gun show for $199+tax. I'd buy the 401 model in 9mm without hesitation if I run across one as it'd be cheaper to shoot.

I had two of them and foolishly sold them :( :( :( I carried one for backup/off-duty use and one for home defense and REALLY wish they were back. I had originally purchased mine as I couldn't afford the Glock 27's the full-timers were being given. Accuracy was much better as it turned out and reliability was as good or better! :D As to weight, they're not as light as poly frame guns that so many are used to but they're not bad. At least current owners must not think so, as I can't get anyone to part with theirs.

Wally, if you decide to go for the 401 and want to find a new home for the 440 PLEASE drop me a line.

Take Care,
Mike
