Rattling .357sig in a Glock

Just recently bought a .357sig barrel to drop in my Glock 27. I am using my stock G27 mags and a couple of G23 mags too.

The thing runs great converted to .357sig, but one thing bugs me. The magazines rattle now with the .357's inside. Both the 27and 23 magazines. If this .357 conversion proves reliable after another 200 rounds I intend to leave it in this mode for nightstand duty and occasional carry. A noticeable rattle is not desirable.

This gun, when loaded with stock .40sw rounds does not rattle nor does it rattle when converted to 9mm with 9mm mags and a LW barrel. Do regular stock .357sig Glocks rattle when loaded? Do I need .357sig mags? Just curious. Thanks.

Rattle....

I noticed a minor rattle too in my 13rd Glock gen 04 magazines. I first I thought the Glock magazine follower somehow got loose or the .45acp rounds were banging on the plastic mag body. I saw that if the pistol magazine was fully loaded, it did not rattle or make any noises.
I'm not a gunsmith or Glock armorer but I wouldn't worry too much over it.
I don't think it will affect the semi auto pistol feeding or cycles.

The followers are slightly different on the .40 and 357 Sig mags, but they should still feed the same.

I've noticed rattles with a few mags, and wondered if the spring was binding up inside, so I'd push the follower as far down as possible and let it fly back to the top. Seemed to do the trick, but I leave my mags loaded all the time and do wear out springs kinda quickly..

Tap the back of your mag on your hand.

Perhaps take one Round out, tap, and top off.

Happens occasionally with .40 and 9 too.

I've tapped, unloaded, reloaded, semi-loaded, fully loaded these mags. Still a rattle. Especially the brand new G23 mag.

Starting to wonder if a disgruntled employee at Corbon put BB's in this batch of .357's before he quit.

Just looking at pictures online, the followers look slight different. The little offset ledge thingy looks to run fairly straight for the .40 but looks a little tapered to one side for the .357. Hard to explain. I'd try swapping a follower or buying a dedicated .357 SIG magazine and seeing if that fixes things.

Are these magazines fully loaded? If they are, that is why they rattle. I had the same problem in my XD45 when it would rattle fully loaded. The spring can't put pressure on every single round in a double stack magazine, so you sometimes get a rattle. It didn't effect feed or function in my XD, was just an annoyance.

Strange....

To me it's strange.
I never had any issues with double stack models I owned or used before; 02 Beretta 96Ds, a M&P full size(9x19mm, 17rd), a PX4 9mm(17rd full size), M&P Compact .45acp(08 round).
These were metal pistol magazines too.

I had a 31, and dont remember the rounds ever rattling in the mags. I was using the 357 mags though.

A 357 SIG follower is only $3.50 at Midway. I'd imagine they're pretty widely available. I'd just keep it in the back of your mind and add one to your next order when you buy something online.

Id also suggest taking apart the Glock magazine(s), cleaning-checking them, then put it together.
I cleaned & checked my Glock 21 gen 04 .45acp yesterday. I use a lime green GTUL to take apart the magazine(s). It's helpful & quick.
I saw the .45acp mags had no rattle or noises with my Ranger T/T Series 230gr +P JHP or the MagSafe SWAT loads.
