Sizing 308 today with rcbs small base die and my rcbs expander ball stripped threads and was left inside a 308 case. Was doing mixed cases and graphite lube. Not sure if was loose or lube but doesn't matter. Had to cut case open to retrieve ball but threads on rod and ball were pulled clean.

I had a standard forster die and the decapping/expander ball threads right into rcbs die. The expander ball is significantly higher than rcbs rod but I can set it per forster instructions to vent hole as they are in virtually same location in both dies.

Sized a few cases and worked fine with less force than rcbs rod. I like the setup of ball on forster better.

If you have as I'm reading correctly a forester die, why not run that. My 308 forester die is a favorite....

My forster is national match and I picked up a small base from rcbs at lgs as the NM die wasn't quite sizing brass enough.

I prefer the forster setup too.
