Will it hurt to leave some Benchmark powder in the Chargemaster over night? I thought I'd better check and see. Thanks! :)
 
the only problem that will cause is a discoloration of the clear plastic on the machine. I don't leave powder in my machine at all. It's sloppy reloading.
 
It's a bad idea in general. For many reasons, it's just way safer to empty the powder measure back into the original container when you end for the day. Yeah, I had a couple occasions when I got interrupted unexpectedly and left some powder sit in one of my powder measures. No harm in those cases. But a few people have reported the plastic finish was left cloudy after just one night. Different powders seem to be worse than others about it. But if it's at all possible, go ahead and empty the powder measure when you're done for the day.
 
One night certainly won't hurt anything. Nor will a week or a month. It will take several months just to discolor the plastic. Over a year for anything worse.

Almost every Dillon 1050 I have ever seen has had a powder measure full of powder left on the machine.
Some powder lots have reportedly had enough residual solvent that they attacked the plastic and left pits in the plastic.
My hoppers have only discolored, but that hasn't affected their usefulness any.
 
I use my Chargemaster every day so I don't bother to unload it at night. After a year of sitting on the bench with varying amounts of Varget in it I have yet to see any discoloration of either the tube or the body of the dispenser.

If you DO unload the powder, just make darn sure that you close the "drain" before filling again. Failure to do so can cause nearby children to learn some new words.
 
Some high nitro content powders will react with plastics used in the Chargemaster in less than 24 hours. Not just discoloring, but actually fusing together and forming a firm bond that has to be scraped off. A Hodgedon spokesperson has told me that they plan to put warnings on the containers about hazards of leaving certain powders in measures.
