I run my brass through my LNL-AP to de-prime before cleaning. I am interested in putting a trim die in station 4 to check for long cases at the same time.

I'm talking about the case-hardened die that you use with a file to trim the case flush with the top of the die. Are these satisfactory for this purpose?

It would work, but would be exactly that, work.

I use a WFT for .223 and 300 BLK and it sure is nice. There are 3 or 4 similar choices out there these days. I size, tumble, trim with the WFT chamfer and deburr, then load in my LNL.

I have two of the RCBS trim dies where you file the case. It sure is a lot like work. I haven't used them in forever. :)

I have an RCBS trim die for 38-45 Clerke, it is part of the forming die set. It works fine but is slow relative to other trimming systems and gets brass shavings everywhere. Your L-N-L will not be happy with all the shavings.

Lots of work.

Metal shavings in the LNL.

The choice is clear.
Thanks for sparing me the pleasure of buying another drawer-filler.

if you need to trim brass the Lee Case trimmer that fits in a portable drill is cheap and easy, works well, i use them on 223, 7mm08, 3006 and 35 whelen. great little tool. trims all the brass to same length then you chamfer and you are set to load em!

good luck,

Bull

I have trim/form dies, I form cases. I do not use the trim/form die for 'just trimming'. My trim dies are the most accurate method for trimming. When trimming cases for long chambers I adjust the die off the shell holder with a feeler gage.
