Dr200

Ace sells a nice skeleton stock and it includes the parts needed to stay legal.Check out gunsamerica or gunbroker to see if you like.Barrel twist is 1 in 12" so stick with 55gr.

I have one with the ACE stock kit but I haven't taken it to the range yet. With the stock kit it's a pretty light and handy rifle.

From everything I've read about them, they are great rifles (accurate and reliable) with the only real issue being parts availability.

Nice rifles, used to sell lots of them (when I worked at a gun shop), the original K-2 had a side folding polymer buttstock.

Some of the parts may be interchangeable with the AR.

Unfortunately, none of the parts are interchangeable with the AR, at least none of the parts in a preban K2. I took mine to a gun show once and checked each part to find out. Other than that, they're wonderful rifles. Quite accurate and very reliable.

I used to own a K2 with a folding stock, and it was SUPERB quality.
Got 3 inch groups at 100 yards with iron sights. (and I'm not assuming that optics wouldn't improve on that.)
K2 has chrome bore. Folded, was a VERY tidy package.

The K2 took M16 mags and M16 bayonet. Very easy takedown for cleaning.

I have often wondered why US DOD didn't consider it.
Combines the advantages of the M16 AND the AK.

I did have a few beefs.

The stock actually was too short for me. (not the rifles fault.)

The trigger safety was a pain to get from safe to fire (Went 180 degrees!)
This is because original military version has full auto and burst settings, and SS is tail end charlie (I think.)

Say what you will about the AR, it has the BEST safety lever bar none.
(a mere 90 degrees of flip to "come to Jesus".)

BAR NONE!

The Daewoo does not have a bolt cover, like the M-16, and the bolt is open to the elements, with a right side recycling handle, and a BIG hole at the rear. Frankly, not sure if this is an issue, because the AK action itself is more reliable. Would have to see honest test data.

Also, parts availabilty MAY be an issue.

I think the bolt is same as M16, but the bolt carrier is shorter and so is the firing pin. (I think). And, of course, it has an op rod and recoil spring for AK-style action.

I believe that the Daewoo would have gotten a huge following if if had been introduced a couple years earlier. It really didn't get up to speed before AWB hit.

IMO, the Daewoo is built tougher than ANY AR. This is one SERIOUS infantry rifle.

Frankly, the Daewoo is what the Israeli Galil SHOULD have been, except the South Koreans knew how to make it work, and the Israelis did not.

(Also , the Israelis were looking for a double duty basic rifle and squad automatic weapon, the balance on the Galil truly SUCKS! While the rice burners were content to design a damn good rifle.)

The Daewoo DR200 is a great rifle. As quiettype says, an Ace skeleton stock will fix the butthole stock problem...

Parts are hard to find, but parts breakage is rare.

Keep in mind that, unlike the K2 (which had a 1/7 twist bore), the DR200 has a 1/12 twist bore. Since I only shoot M193 type ammo, that's just fine. However, if you want to shoot the really heavy (relatively speaking, of course :) ) bullets, you might have some problems...
