Realistically...how worried should we be?

The gun sales force of righteous FURY is BACK baby! Damn I almost miss the greatest firearms and ammo salesman ever. I doubt they will be as effective but you take what you can get.

About guns, absolutely Nothing compared to the danger of ignoring your cholesterol and later some unusual shortness of breath during exercise (blocked Widowmaker artery)--or any other odd sensations.
My stupidity about this, and not telling my wife (to sound like I was getting weak), Almost made my wife a "second-time widow". No kidding at all here.

I told her that one day when I'm gone, it won't be so bad as long as --many years later-- "you are buried beside me". "Don't want to be alone in the cold ground". Very healthy now (running 40 min. with Makarov or CZ PCR in the IWB), thanks to the stent and medical people.

Buy guns you really want/can afford and plenty of 'reserve' ammo for the next Unanticipated panic, i.e. the tragic types which are Not linked to any election. Dead bodies of young people put more pressure on politicians than anything else.
Just pray that you won't ever develop Parkinson's, Alzheimers, even bad arthritis etc. Physical degradation is what scares me a bit.

Explain this shortness of breath thing. Several years ago I seemed to get short on breath from doing stupid things like climbing stairs. I chalked it up to being out of shape. Started back to the gym for about two years and no matter what I did I still seemed to get short of breath to easy for me. Of course I did great st the gym for a couple years but then had kids and never have the time. But I need to make time!

What is there to worry about? Obama couldn't get any gun reform passed while he was in office, even when the Democrats had the house and senate. Ammo is plentiful, including .22. Trump has set an executive order on bumpstocks, but we'll see if that will stand up in court. Where is this doomsday talk coming from?

SilentStalker: The fact that you never experienced a heart attack might mean that none of your chest arteries were getting blocked.
But I'm not the person to ask. My problem was the old routine of jogginh 30 min. Nonstop, doing so 4-5 days/week, but after a few weeks of serious arterial blockage could only jog about 2 min., then needed to walk 30 sec., then could Stll only jog about 2 minutes, in this repetition.

The treadmill test had been scheduled for the day After...after the day it felt like I very suddenly /instantaneously had a really bad flu = actual myocardial infarction. The very healthy heart's low blood pressure had minimized symptoms all along, and on "D-Day" helped prevent damage, but mostly by being a few miles from the hospital, by mere chance, in my car when it happened.

Concrete Proof: three rifles (Enfields, SKS) in my car trunk were no good when the Real SHTF!

I got 3 stents in arteries---i am still here.
Don't sweat the little stuff--remember when you go you will have lots of company.
I am afraid we will not get the 90 virgins---BUMMER

The Dem controlled House will definitely have anti-civil rights legislation on the agenda. "Universal" background checks will certainly be on the agenda. Some form of "assault weapon" ban is certain. There will be other measures such as magazine capacity bans and there will be stealth de facto bans like major excise tax increases on ammunition.

But, the real focus of the House will be all Trump, all day. Oversight hearings on all the cabinet agencies, attempts to reintroduce Obama era measures that Trump rolled back, and impeachment is absolutely certain. In addition climate will be a major focus and time waste. Loons like Ocasio-Cortez will be pushing carbon taxes and vast new subsidies for wind and solar as well as punitive measures designed to slow and damage fossil energy production.

So, new mass shootings will deliver substantial anti civil rights legislation but most of the Dems focus will be Trump hate and climate charade. Everything the House passes has to go to the Senate. Very little of the large amount of legislation passed by House Republicans in the last four years has been passed in a Republican controlled Senate, so the risk of major anti civil rights legislation being passed by the Senate, baring another Sandy Hook type event, is very low. Were anything major passed, a veto is almost certain and a two thirds override almost impossible.

There will be much sound and fury, many illegal messaging bills, a great deal of pandering and signaling of virtue and, as is usual with Congress, nothing will get done.

I got short of breath when walking out to my stand during moose hunting. I put this down to a cough that i could not shake off. A couple of weeks later i went to the doctor and ended up in hospital for 3 days with irregular heart rhythm and fluid on my lungs. Just had Electric shock treatment to reset my heart rhythm and feel 100% again. Plenty of tablets to take every day but, such is life.
So as we say in the far frozen north. God Jul och Gott Nytt År

So, I’m hearing a lot of chatter about gun owners doomsday in 2019 when the new house gets up and going. In your opinion, how worried should we be?

I strive to reduce number of guns to a minimum. This would be my advice. My latest idea is to replace three handguns with just one. I'm budgeting $6500 for Alien pistol with extras plus ample supply of high grade ammunition.

Without the Senate, they have no more power to take any guns than you do.

If you want to worry about something, worry about how to keep the Senate from going full Enver Hoxha.

In the future large percentage of population will be in large cities of dozen or so states. This means Congress will go to Democrats but in order to win in Senate they will have to run candidates in Red States.
It is wise to have very few high quality guns and sufficient ammo to use them. If you have piles of guns and lot of ammo special licensing fees and hazmat storage fees will await you in the future. That sucks.

Guns being confiscated.....

Trump going to Jail.......

Zombie Apocalypse......

Grid down.........

Armageddon....

Wake me up when it happens, I'm ready or not....

I have good news for you. In another couple of decades when ambient temperatures on earth go up Alaska will be sweet place to live. Places like Florida and other places in Deep South will truly suck ie more frequent and powerful but slower moving hurricanes.

I'm not concerned about new restrictions starting in 2019, any move would also have to pass the senate. Now 2021 on the other hand.....

That's why I'm restocking powder, primers and .22s now. I've been through the cycles before and survived the last one by being prepared.

Silent Stalker - you need to get your ejection fraction evaluated. I have first hand knowledge and experience in such matters. Best of luck to you.

That said - Merry Christmas to all , and no more doomsday talk today!

The "New House " didn't ban Bump Stocks. NRA endorsed POTUS did. I'm not gonna sweat it. I see no major legislation looming on the horizon against anything of interest to me. As far as the hoarding....Manufacturers learned their lessons during the last shortages. Only ones that made money were the greedy retailers and resellers. I had enough then,(didn't really think I was a hoarder), will probably have enough in the future.

By it's self the house has no power except to harass and annoy. That's why we have three levels to our lawmaking process. One bunch can't shove their agenda down our throats unless they can get the other two on board----like Obamacare.

I'm going to start looking for the next gun I want not because I'm afraid they will be unobtainable in the near future but just because I'm always looking for my next gun.
