The farthest I can shoot in my back yard is 21 yards. I was testing pellets though at 41 feet in the old 1977,Benji 347, .177 and my 2017(?) Benjamin 392, .22 and with iron sights shot these groups. Given my 62+ year old peepers I was thrilled. The 392 has Williams aperture aftermarket sights while the old 347 has the coarse rear factory leaf.
Friends since I'm holding onto my remaining fixed ammo like so many others, air guns have opened up new avenues to me. Even hesitant to shoot black powder much as I fear replacing the caps. Hate to be that way but for a while it's how I must roll. And it's been 15 years since I could shoot in my own back yard (at least nobody has said anything yet!).
I recontoured my 392 stock, The Beautiful Blonde with spokeshave, rasps and abrasive tools and finished using 6 coats of Minwax Antique Oil Finish. Rubbed and hand buffed the wood really glows. My old 347 with its' American walnut stock has some of that God-given beautiful feathering and responded nicely to light sanding, scuffing and here too, 6 coats of the Minwax Antique Oil Finish.
Keep shooting my friends however you're getting lead downrange!. And lets continue to enjoy life.
Don
