I bought a Smith wesson piston model 39-2 and the old owner put a rear sight who don't fit, all is shaking and i know it's not the good sight. I wrote to the company Smith & Wesson and they told me than the rear sight for a model 39-2 is discontinued.....Is there someboy who knows what kind of rear sight than i can put on it? I want to shoot distinguish match with it so i need an ajustable rear sight, tahmk you

The stock factory sight was not adjustable for elevation.
S&W made a fully adjustable replacement you could get as an after-market part, but it wasn't real durable.

The 39-2 rear sight has a very unique way of mounting, and also holds some importent parts inside the slide.

I know of no current after-market sight that will fit them.

The 39-2 is not generally accurate enough to shoot "distinguished Match" as it was designed as a service handgun, not a match gun. I've not seen one that will group adequately to be competitive. No one makes match barrels for them anymore, though you might find a BarSto languishing somewhere.
Millett at one time made a rear sight for the 39-2, but good luck finding one now.
Your best bet with that gun is to get a factory original rear sight from Gun Parts Corp and relegate it to personal protection/casual plinker.

Also check for a M-59 rear site as it was the same thing I believe. I changed my 59 sight our years agof or an ajustable one. Might still have the orginal for it some where.

Actually, the rear blade assembly on the W&E adjustable S&W accessory sight in the photo was not that tight when new.

Mine has very few rounds through it since I put the new fully adjustable S&W sight on it, and the whole rear blade assembly has some side to side movement in the windage adjustment screw & bushing.

That's just the way they made them.

I do find that mine apparently returns to the same place every shot, as it always shoots to the same place.

BTW: I just found that Millett still lists the SW39595 rear sight on thier website so maybe they still make them?
