By golly i've been fiddling for a good 40 minutes and can't seem to get the bolt/bolt carrier thing/slide rails back in thier places. Help?

-Place the fore-end assembly over the mag tube.

-Position the slideblock assembly and breech bolt assembly onto rear of action bars.

-Guide the action bars into the receiver until stopped by the right shell latch.

- Push the carrier upward, depress and hold the right shell latch.

-Slide the fore-end rearward until stopped by left shell latch.

- Reach into bottom of receiver . Depress and hold the rear shell latch.

-Slide fore-end rearward until stopped by the action bar lock.

-Push upward on the action bar lock. Slide the fore-end rearward approx. halfway.

-Replace the bbl, and mag cap.

Directly from the Users manual, a very OLD one, but applicable. Holler at Remington they will send you one. Sorry I don't have link to their site, but I bet instructions are avail that way also.

What sm said......

but as a new 870 owner who just went through the first cleaning, here's what I figured out....

when pushing the shell latches, you may need to "back off" on the slide and then push in the latches.

also, you have to completely push in the slide patches.....as in once you think they are depressed, push some more.

I found it helpful to sit on the floor with the butt stock on the floor between my legs and then work the mechanisms as sm said.....

good luck

Thank you, I got it, I don't think it'll need disassemling for a long time now.

All I need's an extractor now and she's up and running. Well, it'd still work as a single shot.
