Hello all,

I'm thinking of asking for a clay pigeon launcher/ thrower for Christmas. I've done a little shopping on-line but I figured I'd ask around here too. I'd like something that can be remote operated (by voice or foot pedal maybe) by one person that way I can shoot by myself, if I so desire. I don't need anything that holds 300 clays and has wobble capability or anything like that, just something somewhat simple.

What do yall have or have you used? Are there any that you reccomend? Any that I should stay away from? Also, if I find that the automatic launchers are too expensive, what are your favorite hand held clay throwers?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

I bought a good one from Walmart a year ago. Last I checked, they still carry it.

It mounts to the tow hitch of your truck/suv or it can be self standing. It is spring loaded, very simple and rugged. It even comes with a seat if someone is launching for you. If you wanted to launch clays for yourself, you could easily use a pulley and string to rig the release.

Cost was $99

I was talking about clay pigeon launchers with a friend of mine a few years ago ... pretty much asking what ChrisB asked.

He picked up a plastic hand tosser, tossed it to his 10 year old boy and said "Best thing to do is to grow your own". :p

(sorry ... not particularly helpful post but your question reminded me of that anecdote)

LOL. While it sounds quite practical, I'm only 22 and haven't exactly reached that stage of my life yet.

220- that one looks awesome but I don't think Santas pockets are that deep this year.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

I've got a $7 hand thrower from walmart. When I shoot alone, I just throw it with my left hand, holding the gun in my right, drop the thrower and fire away. Its a fun challenge. It does take a while to be able to throw nice, straight, far pigeons with a hand thrower, takes a good flick of the wrist. Can't beat the price.

I have a Champion Flightmaster that looks like this

It's around $200 and I'll tell you why I don't like to use it by myself.

It's boring. Other than varying the angle a bit left or right, the elevation is always so repetitive. And the release is not designed to be actuated except by direct contact so it's gonna be right at your feet, further compounding the problem of it being just too easy.

I actually have more fun with an MTM hand thrower I got at WalMart for six bucks.

I picked up Do-all Competitor trap at Wally World for ~ $30. Nice little trap launcher that can be foot activated or string pulled. Best bang for the buck in my opinion. Wife and I shot 100's of clays on vacation this fall and will do the same over Christmas break.

It wasn't clear from your original post whether you're looking for an electric or a manual machine. I thought electric because I've never heard of a voice-activiated manual machine. But if you're thinking manual, let me add another vote for the Trius One-Step if you want one that you can use solo.
