Emergency Broadcast Message

This was absolutely legit.
I just received a call on my cell phone, and an e-mail message here at work indicating there was a "suspicious device" found in my neighborhood.

I called my wife Corlinda right away, and she was told by the police that a hand grenade was found in one of our next door neighbors mailbox, and they wanted her to evacuate immediately.
The Bomb squad has been called. So far no additional updates.
I called the local TV station that has good local coverage and they're on it.

Regards,
Gregory

I'd stay outside the police perimeter until the scene is broken down. Simple.

Please don't be that guy who pulls into the bank parking lot, sees first responders behind their cars, with AR15s pointed at the front door of the bank, and asks, "Is it okay to use the ATM?" as he casually walks in front of a muzzle. It happens. Not saying anyone here would do it, but it's been done to me.

Quite a way to waste tens of thousands of taxpayer dollars.. spend $1 on a toy hand grenade. Jeesh. Not a good prank to pull on someone.

I'm thinking it was the neighbor's 4 year old little boy playing with his toys, and he put it in the mailbox without giving it any thought. It was directly across the street from my house and that's where he plays quite a bit.

I'm just thankful that nobody was hurt, and that the police responded immediately. My wife said they were very professional and courteous to her on her way out of the neighborhood.
