Can anyone compare for me the recoil of a 327 Fed. Mag. round (like a 115 gr. Gold Dot @ 1350+) out of a Ruger SP-101 with a 38+P or .357 mag? Also, are there any speedloaders out for it yet? Thanks.
Yeah, based on the experience of testing that round, I'll agree that the recoil falls between a .38+P and a .357 Mag. Interesting caliber, indeed. I'm going to keep my eyes open for one.
I find the recoil to be LESS than that of the .38 +P out of my S&W J-frame. Once mine gets back from Ruger (and don't even get me STARTED on why they didn't do quality control and get them right the first time!!!!) it will be a very good addition for everyday carry.
Great gun, once they get the whole "oh, the cylinder is the wrong size so yes, the .327 Federal bulges like somebody who ate 20 pounds of Dunkin' Donuts, but we're sending you a new one and we promise it will work" thing done, I'm looking forward to a terrific carry piece and a great shooter.
I picked up a new Charter Arms Target Patriot in 327 Magnum. I wanted it because Ruger and Taurus offer short barrels only and the CA has a 4" with adjustable sights. I've only found one box of FC 100 gr. ammo so far and am handloading it. The factory ammo is stout and recoil is not what I call fun in a small frame. I'm load ing it down a little and loading 32 Mag up a little. I've only put about 250 rds thru the gun but I like it. Factory cases extract easily, sights are good, grip and trigger/lock work is smooth. I think its a keeper!!!
Recoil at first put me off with the American Eagles until I realized it was the concussion wave that was throwing me. Recoil itself is really not bad at all, but there is a muzzle blast that is pretty intense. I've not shot full bore .357 Mags from a short barrel in a number of years so I wasn't ready for the concussion wave. I'm really wanting to shoot the .327 out of a longer barrel and see how it does.
The first 20 rounds I shot I thought "this is not fun". However, after shooting
a few hundred rounds out of my Glock 26, I got it out last week and put another 20 of the .327 high pressure rounds through it. I found it to be pretty fun. The trigger pull on the gun is a real treat, the accuracy is there.
I had the sticky .327 problem until the last box of 20. Now they pretty much fall out of the barrel. I'm probably not sending mine back. I've shot every type of .32 through it you can shoot and it does an incredible job. It's too bad the 32 mag is so expensive. It would be a great round for self defense (about like a 9mm).
