Hey everybody,

I have a 7mm RM in Browning X-Bolt. I have just gotten a new Bushnell scope and it is time to sight it in, and I now have the question of what bullet grain and brand I should use. I primarily hunt for moose, and occasionally deer. I have been using Federal Fusion ammunition in 175 gr. I have heard some people saying that the Fusion ammunition is made mainly for deer. Is this true? I have yet to have a moose cross my path, so I have no way to know if it is a reliable bullet to drop a Canadian Moose. I liked how the bullet shot at the range, and the price is not too bad at all. Does anybody have any experience with the Federal Fusions? Are there better ammunition that will do the job better? Any responses would be appreciated.

Dont over think it. Remeber one thing when choosing a round. If you cant hit what your shooting at, then it dosnt really matter. Use whatever is most accurate in your gun. 175Gr bullet is goin to do fine on moose. As far as what brand to use, I have no clue. Each rifle is different. I would get a 3-5 different brands and see what shoots best in your rifle. Pick the most accurate one and start training with that round. Shoot it at 100 yards, at 150, at 200 and keep going. Keep a log. Find out where the bullet hits related to your Point of Aim at various distances. Dont forget to see where your hitting close in to. With a 7mm Rem Mag you should be pretty good as its a fairly flat shooting round. Also, find out how far you can shoot and constantly keep your shots in a 6inch circle from various field positions. Spend the off season finding what your gun likes and where it hits at various distances and when Moose season comes around you will have all the confidence in your rifle to drop bullwinkle.

Also, you might want to look into getting yourself a reloading kit. You can really fine tune loads to your rifle to get the most accuracy out of it.
