HELP!!! I'm looking for a competent machinist, not too high priced, who can duplicate small internal working parts for old, obsolete guns. EXAMPLE: I collect Fiala pistols and a couple of them need safety levers, thumb slide-release levers, barrel-release bolts, etc. I need at least a couple and know other Fiala collectors who ALSO need these or similar parts. On Fiala parts I can furnish a working piece to copy. This is only ONE example. I've got others needing similar parts as well. Anyone got a name, address, phone, email, website, etc. WHOM YOU WOULD PERSONALLY RECOMMEND??? Thanks in advance....45Broomhandle

I'm really sorry that I can't actually personally recommend anything, but if you're clever with their somewhat goofy software, you could use www.emachineshop.com and see if they offer something in which you're interested.

Don't you have any machine shops or industry near you? Another place to search is tech schools and community colleges.

Try to find a gunsmith school in your area. The might able to add metal to the old piece and refinish them close to the original.

The bad new is that being student they might mess it up in the process.
The close one that I know of is in Susanville, California. I don't know if they are still there.

Unbelievably GREAT Responses!!!

Many thanks to ALL who replied. Once again you've proven that gun collectors are among the BEST hobbyists on the planet. VERY helpful. GunnySkox - Thx for the on-line machine shop link. Looks good, but instead of mastering their CAD program I'm lazy and can just send them a working copy of the piece I want duplicated. Majic - This is Daytona, Man! If it ain't for a murdercycle or a NASCAR "ride" then it has no right to even exist. GUNS??? Pshaw, pshaw!!! These shops go for the BIG money machines. osg - All I can say about that website link is WOW! I suspect they not only fabricate YOUR order, but make an EXTRA for an on-file model in case someone else orders the same part. That way they can enter it in their catalog - or whatever - as already available. SMART... Well, you've given me lots of info to work with, and I'll try to report back any results, good or bad. Thanks again. 45B

There's a very thin line between "hobby" and "mental illness."
