Greetings. I am looking for a recommended book(s) in basic gunsmithing. The purpose of reading this book(s) is to learn how to work on my own guns, so something that goes into great detail about making firearms is not for me. I would prefer recommendations of books that you have personally read. I did do a search for this topic but could not find anything so if there is already a thread such as this a link would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Shawn

Go to your local mom and pop bookstore, and ask about the firearm section. You will see lots of old Gun magazines, books, how to guides etc. It is how I have got my vast (but limited) knowledge of guns.

AT check out e-gunparts.com they have books and manuals with breakout pictures showing all the different parts of different guns. AND they are fairly cheap.

Might want to grab one or two of the books listed therein, as well as the Wheeler gunsmith screwdriver set.

Gunsmithing Kinks, Firearms Assembly & Disassemly, anything by Kuhnhausen

and a good set of screwdrivers, brass/nylon tipped hammer, a punch or two. The Firearms Assembly & Disassembly probably being one of your better initial buys, info wise.
