Red dot what do you use it for?

So far, 38 Spl, 9mm, 40S&W, 45ACP, 45Colt. Due to fast burn rate, very suitable powder for accurate lighter recoil lower velocity target loads that works particularly well with lead bullets (fast burn provides better initial bumping/deformation of bullet base to seal with the barrel). I also use Promo using Red Dot load data by weight, as indicated by Alliant.

Very versatile powder that some even use it for subsonic 300 Whisper/.300 BLK/7.62x39 loads.

Red Dot is great for 12 ga. target loads. I didnt find it produced great accuracy in 38 spec. & 45 acp
How much accuracy are you looking for? How about 1" at 15 yards and 2" at 25 yards?

Below target pictures are of 12 BHN 200 gr MBC SWC (Bullseye #1) with 4.0 gr of Promo and Sig 1911 - http://www.thehighroad.org/showthread.php?p=9415802#post9415802

do a Bing/Google search for an article entitled THE LOAD by C. E. Harris and it gives lots of uses for RED DOT propellant.

I have used this on a number of loads with good results.

I'm presently using Red Dot in 9mm, .45 ACP, and .38 Special. Works well for light target loads and very accurate.

Makes super accurate, light 250 grain cast .44 mag loads. Really good cast bullet loads for a bunch of 30 cal rifles, and of course nice 12 gauge trap and std velocity hunting ammo in 1 1/8 oz, high velocity 1 oz loads. Use it a lot for just about any std velocity cast bullet load in about any pistol. Great stuff.

38 Spl, 9x18, 9x19, 44 Mag & 45 ACP all with cast lead. Also tested a load for 9x19 with plated/jacketed for when needed.

I have between 4 and 8 pounds of Promo (bought 8 pounds, but I've used some), used it mainly for .38/.357, and .45 ACP. I've used a little of it in .45 Colt, but prefer Unique for a case that big. "The Load" has considerable utility, when I'm fire-forming 8x57mm cases from .30-06. I bought it in anticipation of having to make 1000s of .45 ACP to practice my IDPA game, but a job got in the way.
