I just took apart an old Ruger Police Service Six. I'm quite sure I'm the first to open the gun up in 15 years since it left the factory. Inside was a red, clear grease. Looked like strawberry jelly. I've seen this grease before. Its the slickest stuff I've ever seen and after all these years, still slick and still where it was originally put. Anybody know what this stuff is?

Reminds me of the old Moly grease made by Texaco some years ago. Some local Smith's back in the day used it.

Schaffer's Oil Company makes a great auto grease that works well too, just hard to find locally - most often orderd.

STOS , Dist by Ponsess Warren , is clear , and yes it is 'that slick'. It stays put .
Now folks do use ATF to lube Revos...wonder if that one had STOS and ATF mixed . Again - common for some folks back in the day I knew to use it that way.

probally plain ole' hi-lo temp moly grease....

i use it on everything, the tube next to me is made by interlube corp. in cincinnati....
