I just bought the standard two die set and am wondering if my seater die might be defective. I have just sent Redding a message.
My seater stem does not screw in all the way. When I try to look into the die body, it looks like the threads go for about an inch, then there is a gap of about 1/8 of an inch then it looks like there are a few more threads.
I have four full threads showing when it is screwed in as far as it will go. This gives me 2.26 OAL with the die backed out one full turn per the instructions.
I am just wondering if this is normal. I don't want to fire up the crimp no crimp debate, but where I am now is I have to crimp some because I have to screw the body in some from the full turn to get the bullet depth I want.
Keep in mind I have old eyes to go along with my old brain and often confuse myself.
Thanks to anyone who will humor this old man.
